In our 2017 federal filing i enter our healthcare premiums as a tax credit, that are deducted from my wife's month;y retirement checks but we do pay for it. The IRS rejected this, if I was wrong so be it but should I have enter this in another area of the return? If so how should I submit the correction via a 1040 amendment?
Until the total of all healthcare costs (including insurance premiums) exceeds 10% of your AGI and the total of all itemized deductions exceed your standard deduction, such itemized deductions do not help or make any difference in your tax liability.
